The final stage was the full demolition of the existing Imaging Building to make way for the Construction of a new 70 place Childcare Centre, new site services, carpark, children’s playgrounds and landscaping.

Project Challenges

Donnelley Constructions identified that the original location for the childcare centre was unsuitable. Our Project Management team worked closely with Health Infrastructure to find a new location including its design and pricing of works.

Working around children protocols were strictly adhered to, due to the close proximity of the childcare centre. Ensuring that any disruptions did not expose the patients, children or staff to any hazards was a priority, as well as minimising noise and vibration activities where possible.

The prospect of working in a live hospital environment always poses a challenge to a project. Royal North Shore Hospital and all areas surrounding the works remained open during the entire project and were accommodated accordingly.

Our approach to shared access sites is always one of consideration and professionalism ensuring minimal disruption to the hospital. Early warning notice was given to the hospital team to ensure all disruptions were approved before works commenced.

The site team’s ability to communicate with all stakeholders in all situations saw them manage the challenges to ensure a smooth delivery was achieved.
