Goulburn Hospital Anu Clinical Training Facility

Project Profile

The Goulburn Hospital Redevelopment included delivery of a new Clinical Training Facility for the Australian National University. Health Infrastructure awarded this multi-stage project to Donnelley Constructions in June 2022, in collaboration with the ANU Rural Clinical School and Southern NSW Local Health District.
Delivered as part of the broader $165 million Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment, the $10.5 million purpose-built, two-storey Clinical Training Facility provides a state-of-the-art education and training environment at Goulburn Base Hospital. The facility supports medical, nursing and allied health training for both ANU students and hospital staff, and enables interdisciplinary education in partnership with the University of Canberra and other regional institutions.
The facility incorporates high-quality, specialist training environments, including a simulated hospital setting, clinical skills and tutorial rooms, auditorium and meeting spaces, student study and common areas, staff workspaces, Clinical Nurse Educator facilities, and a clinical library.

External works included landscaping, signage, and construction of a critical link walkway connecting the new facility to the operational hospital.

Key Challenges and Delivery Outcomes

Delivery within a live hospital environment required careful planning, staging, and stakeholder coordination. Donnelley Constructions successfully maintained full hospital operations throughout the project, ensuring uninterrupted access to surrounding facilities.
A proactive and adaptive approach to construction planning enabled the team to mitigate impacts on staff, patients, and the community. Ongoing consultation with all stakeholders ensured works were carefully managed and responsive to operational requirements.
The project was delivered with a strong focus on safety, coordination, and communication, demonstrating Donnelley Constructions’ capability to successfully deliver complex health infrastructure projects within operational environments.
