Powerhouse Museum

Donnelley Constructions was engaged by the Museum of Applied Arts and Science to carry out a revitalisation program on the iconic Powerhouse Museum to solidify the attraction’s status as a 21st century cultural destination.

This included an extension of the forecourt to join the switch house, demolition of the existing lift and installation of two new lifts, installation of four new escalators, a new main entrance and suspended slabs creating new floor space.

Donnelley’s experience was key to minimising disruption to the live, open environment, as well as the exhibitions which showcased irreplaceable objects.

Lemongrove Community Health Centre

NSW Health contracted Donnelley Constructions to deliver the new Lemongrove Community Health centre in Penrith. The facility includes a larger reception area, six purpose-built counselling clinic rooms and parking spaces.

The scope additionally included site establishment, minor demolition, surveying, excavation, retaining walls, associated civil works and infrastructure, main services to the new building, landscaping and line marking. Donnelley Constructions worked to tight deadlines to achieve a timely and economical delivery.

Cabramatta High School Stage 2

NSW DPWS contracted Donnelley Constructions to deliver the Stage 2 works at Cabramatta High School. The scope included the construction of a single storey movement studio (Block 5), a double storey performance workshop with classrooms (Block 6) and a new boundary fence for the school.

The team worked in a live school environment and successfully ensured no works exposed students or staff to danger. Additionally, all disruption to ongoing activities was minimised where possible.

I A Watson Internationals Grains Research Facility

Donnelley Constructions was engaged by the University of Sydney to design and construct 12 new PC2 glasshouses of 3x3m dimension, as well as three 10x3m breeding glasshouses, all with associated airlock entry at Narrabri.

The I. A. Watson Grains Research Centre has been the main field testing site for crops being developed by the University of Sydney since 1961 when it was opened by the then Prime Minister, the honourable Sir Robert Menzies.

Liverpool CCC

Donnelley Constructions was contracted by Sydney South-West Area Health Service to construct two new child care centre buildings at Liverpool Community Centre, as well as a landscaped playground and carpark. An existing childcare building was refurbished for new purposes.

The new facility provides hospital staff with increased childcare services during work hours. The team overcame challenges such as very limited material storage space, minimal access to site and close proximity to childcare and hospital environments to achieve a smooth delivery.

Donnelley Constructions delivered the construction of a two-storey rehearsal space, classroom, performance workshop, adjoining store rooms and external courtyards at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts.

The building’s function required a large amount of walls, ceilings, doors and windows to be designed with acoustic properties in consideration and the main rehearsal area had to accommodate up to 80 orchestra pieces.

Donnelleys site team implemented strong communication and strictly adhered to induction guidelines to minimise disruption to the school during construction.

Ruardean

This project involved the construction of an architect-designed, two-storey complex containing four luxury apartments in Sydney’s upper North Shore. Each residency comprises 220m² of internal living space, and was constructed to exacting environmental standards. Construction included a reinforced footing system supported on load bearing masonry walls within the dwellings. The aesthetically pleasing residential piece is a fine demonstration of Donnelley Constructions portfolio.

Elysium

This stunning addition to the Donnelley Constructions portfolio is one of the finest residential complexes on Sydney’s North Shore, overlooking Pymble Golf Course and set in 4400m² of exquisite landscaping. The architect-designed complex comprises two separate residential buildings, each housing four apartments and a penthouse. A private pool, BBQ area, shower facilities and car washing area round out this European-style manor house which sold for record prices in the upper North Shore.

Brookvale Bus Depot Redevelopment

The new Brookvale Bus Depot on Pittwater Road, Brookvale, involved the demolition of the existing STA administrative facility, extensive new roadwork on Pittwater Road and the construction of new STA administration buildings on the same site. The depot houses 180 buses.
 
Significantly, all work on the site was carried out while the bus depot remained fully operational – requiring Donnelley Constructions to implement innovative and sophisticated project management methodology.

Sutherland Hospital Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit

This project involved the construction of a single storey, 20-bed non-acute Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit with associated landscaping and courtyards. Experienced in health infrastructure delivery, Donnelley Constructions worked closely with hospital staff to minimise the complexity of the unique contract, and accommodate the ongoing operation of the facility.

Specific requirements for administration areas and patients’ rooms were installed without disruption, a testament to the flexibility and proficiency of the Donnelley Constructions team.
